Your opportunity to have a say in the future of our profession

17 April 2018

The AVA is an organisation that represents its members. How do we know what our members want?
There are many avenues for members to express their concerns, provide feedback and guide the direction of the organisation.

Financial AVA members can vote in the Annual General Meeting, which will be held on Monday, May 14, from 4pm. Hear from your elected representatives about achievements and challenges in the past 12 months.

Stick around to celebrate at the AVA Awards Ceremony, and celebrate with colleagues who will be honoured. Find out the winners of the Gilruth Prize (the AVA’s most prestigious award), the Kesteven Medal, Fellowship Awards, Honorary Membership, Meritorious Service Awards, the Excellence in Teaching Award, the AVA Practices of Excellence Awards, and the Don Kerr Veterinary Student Award, among others.

Another avenue for providing feedback is the annual AVA Member Forum. This year the forum will be held on Thursday May 16 from 4.30pm to 6pm in the Great Hall of the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Comedian and New Inventors host James O’Loghlin will host the discussion. Find out about the board’s current projects, as well as challenges and concerns faced by other members of the profession.

The AVA’s advocacy calendar is already bulging for 2018, from animal welfare advocacy to issues like Hendra virus and national recognition of veterinary registration.
This is a chance to ensure that your concerns are heard – the AVA is listening.
