International delegates

International delegates who are members of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), British Veterinary Association (BVA), Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), New Zealand Veterinary Association (NZVA) or South African Veterinary Association (SAVA) can attend the AVA Annual Conference at AVA member rates.

All international delegates are required to supply their membership association and membership number at the time of registering.

Delegate registration includes:

  • Attendance at scientific sessions
  • Admittance to industry exhibition
  • Satchel (including conference materials)
  • Welcome Reception
  • Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea (Monday–Thursday)
  • Happy hour (Monday–Wednesday)
  • USB copy of proceedings

Day registration includes:

  • Attendance at scientific sessions (on nominated day only)
  • Admittance to industry exhibition (on nominated day only)
  • Satchel (including conference materials)
  • Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea (on nominated day only)

Admittance to the industry exhibition is on the nominated day only during the following hours. Delegates must register either online or purchase tickets on the day.

The AVA will send practices an excel spreadsheet post event where details of each delegate who attended each day should be completed and returned to veted@ava.com.au to claim Vet Ed points.

New graduates

All new graduates must be members of the AVA  and no more than 3 years out of University.  New Graduates must supply their membership number to receive discount rates.

Accompanying guests must be accompanied by registered delegate.  Scientific sessions are not included.

  • Accompanying guests may attend plenary sessions (Monday-Thursday) but must be accompanied by a registered delegate.

We recommend you register online to avoid disappointment as you will receive immediate confirmation and automatic receipt and tax invoice.  It only takes 15 minutes and you can reserve your place right now for those not to be missed optional extra.

If you wish to do a manual registration allow 2-4 days for processing.  Only scanned booking forms will be accepted and they must be emailed to ava@infosalons.com.au.

Cancellation of registration

Cancellations must be received in writing to the Conference Secretariat (E: eventsmanager@ava.com.au) by Friday 28 April 2017.  Cancellations received prior to 28 April 2017 will receive a full refund minus $150 administration fee.   Cancellations after 28 April 2017 will not be refunded.  Substitute delegates will be accepted.

International delegates - Letters of Invitation and Visas

Please note that our policy is to only issue a letter of invitation to an international delegate once registration and full payment has been received.  A letter of invitation from the conference does not guarantee entry in to Australia. Please email events@ava.com.au to request a letter of invitation after your registration and payment has been submitted and attaching your paid invoice. 

All international visitors to Australia (other than New Zealand citizens) are legally required to hold a valid visa. Please visit the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection: www.immi.gov.au/visitors

The AVA takes photos of this event, by attending you give permission to use images taken at the conference, as well as any written comments on our evaluation forms in advertising and promoting the AVA.

VetEd points

The AVA Annual Conference offers delegates approximately 26.5 hours of continuing professional development over the full week.

To have your attendance at the conference recognised for Vet Ed points you must include your AVA membership number when registering for the conference for automatic awarding of the points to your Vet Ed statement.

Delegates can earn extra points by attending one of the post-conference workshops and field trips, or by completing trials at the National Veterinary Examination stand.

VetEd points correct at the time of printing, however points are subject to change without notice.

Trialling questions for the National Veterinary Examination

Many veterinarians trained overseas are required to sit the National Veterinary Examination to check that they are of the same standard as those trained in Australia and New Zealand.

Throughout the conference, the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC) is asking Australian vets to trial some questions to enable them to collate data to determine their suitability for the examination.

Note: One (1) CE point is available for each set of questions completed. Trialling is anonymous.

Help AVBC maintain the high standard of veterinary practice in Australia.

Points

Delegates may use Provet Plus points  but must check they have sufficent points available prior to registering.  You must have sufficient points to cover the full registration.  Part payment is not accepted.
 

                  

Delegate/Attendee steps to claiming Provet PLUS points:

  1. Complete AVA  conference registration online and pay
  2. You will receive a tax invoice/receipt sent to your nominated email address (check this is not in your junk mail if it has not arrived in your inbox)
  3. Attendee to email a copy of tax invoice/receipt and a copy of the completed Provet Plus form to marketing@provet.com.au
  4. Provet Marketing will process redemption from nominated Provet PLUS account (Please note: Provet will only be able to process redemption if customer has enough points)
  5. Provet Accounts will reimburse the attendee by direct deposit to the nominated bank account.
