Small animal

Frustrated by immune mediated diseases? Help from international experts is on hand.

This year the small animal stream is focused on immune-mediated disease, from allergies to immune-mediated blood disorders. These can be challenging cases to diagnose and manage – and the answer isn’t always pred.

Keynote speaker Professor Andrew Macklin, Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences at Mississippi State University, will discuss his approach to IMHA and IMT in the dog and cat, chronic management of immune mediated blood disorders, diagnosis and treatment of immune-mediated polyarthritis, emergency management of immune mediated disease, fever of unknown origin and blood transfusions in small animals.

Local speakers include Julien Dandrieux, Mandy Burrows, and Karen Jackson.

Earn additional VetEd points at the hands-on urinalysis workshop on Friday, May 18, hosted by Hill’s Pet Nutrition. This workshop will cover all aspects of urinalysis, including normal values, interpretation of results and physical, chemical and microscopic examination.

Join other Australian Small Animal Veterinarians (ASAV) members for the always entertaining Recent Graduate Dinner on Wednesday May 16. This is an opportunity for 2015-2017 to share their stories of practice with ASAV members while enjoying a casual dinner at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
