Take the opportunity to explore the Nation’s capital, which boasts an array of stylish restaurants and bars, national museums, historic townships, and the many natural wonders of the surrounding region.
Walk or cycle around the lake to the National Gallery of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery, the newly opened Museum of Democracy at Old Parliament House. Reconciliation Place links the High Court and the National Library - try to take time to walk along here and see many thoughtful and moving sculptures and artworks.


Or hop on, hop-off the Explorer Bus which visits Canberra's best attractions including The Australian War Memorial, Questacon, Parliament House where the AVA Gala dinner is being held, the Royal Australian Mint and the Australian National Botanic Gardens.  You’ll even drive past The Lodge, official Canberra residence of the Prime Minister.

Or get out of Canberra for the day and discover the Canberra district wine region which is home to 140 vineyards.   More than 33 wineries of them are within 35 minutes drive of Canberra or join us on one of our exclusive AVA Conference Tours.

Buses

Canberra's public bus service, ACTION Buses, covers Canberra’s major tourist sites and the suburbs.  The Daily Ticket is ideal for sightseeing. Tickets are available from bus drivers as you board the bus, or from any ACTION ticket agent. Call (02) 6207 7611 for more information or go to Action Buses website. ACTION's fleet includes easy access buses for people with reduced mobility.

Sustainability

* In line with the AVA’s theme on “Sustainability”, The National Convention Centre Canberra has an environmental policy  which includes any unused food being given to OzHarvest, a food rescue program.  We do hope you will join us in minimizing waste by attending catered events you have registered for.
