Your journey to and from Perth is easy, and there are a number of options available to make your stay even more enjoyable.
Elizabeth Quay Busport is located adjacent to the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Many bus services depart and arrive at the Elizabeth Quay Busport including the free CBD ‘Blue and Green CAT’ service. Perth’s other major bus port is the Wellington Street Bus Station, located along Wellington Street next to the Perth Central train station.
Banks generally open from 0930 – 1600 hours Monday – Friday. General office hours are 0900 – 1700 Monday – Friday. Post Offices operate these hours, however, stamps are often available from hotels.
We are delighted to introduce a complimentary Carer’s Pass for delegates attending all AVA conferences and events. This will give the Carer access to the conference, exhibition, and sessions and allows parents/delegates nursing children to be provided with assistance. The pass does not include catering for carers. To request a pass please contact Kandy Musgrave, National Events Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no need to register online, and your Carer’s Pass can be collected at the registration desk upon arrival.
Please note there are no arrangements for child care during the Conference. We suggest you check with your accommodation provider who may be able to assist you further with babysitting services during your stay.
The parent’s room is located in Level 1 in close proximity to the exhibition and session rooms.
The currency of Australia is the Australian Dollar. All prices quoted in this brochure are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST. To check the current exchange rate visit www.xe.com. Credit cards are accepted virtually everywhere and Traveller's Cheques are also widely accepted. International airports and major hotels provide money-changing facilities.
Delegates carrying commercial goods or samples may need to obtain permits for their goods depending on the nature of the goods, regardless of value. Quarantine and wildlife regulations and other restrictions may also apply to certain goods. All travelers must declare amounts of $10,000 or more in foreign or Australian currency (notes and coins) you take into or out of Australia. For more information visit www.customs.gov.au.

Australian electricity supply is 240V, 50Hz. The connection for appliances is a flat 3-pin plug.
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a broad-based ten percent tax included in the shelf price of most Australian goods and services. The Tourist Refund Scheme allows international travellers to claim a GST refund (subject to certain conditions) on goods purchased in Australia. The refund only applies to items worn or goods taken onboard as hand luggage when leaving the country.

In the event of industrial disruption or other unforeseen circumstances, the Australian Veterinary Association accepts no responsibility for loss of monies incurred by delay or cancellation.
Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that at the time you register for the conference and book your travel you take out an insurance policy of your choice. The policy should include loss of fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the conference, or through cancellation of the conference, loss of international/domestic air fares through cancellation for any reason, loss of tour monies through cancellation for any reason including airline or related services strikes within Australia, failure to utilise tours or pre booked arrangements due to airline delay, Force Majeure or any other reason, medical expenses (including sickness and accident cover), loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. The conference managers cannot take any responsibility for any participant failing to arrange their own insurance. This insurance is to be purchased in your country of origin.
International delegates please note: You will need a visa to enter Australia.
All international visitors to Australia (the sole exception being citizens of Australia and New Zealand travelling on Australian and New Zealand passports) must obtain a visa in advance. You are urged to apply for a visa not later than six weeks prior to travel. Residents of many countries may now apply for a visa online, others will need to apply at an Australian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission. You will need to register for the conference and pay your fees before you apply for a visa.
