Keen to learn more about holistic therapies for veterinary patients?
The Integrative Veterinarians Australia (IVA) stream at the AVA conference provides plenty of food for thought.
International keynote speaker Dr Jean Dodds will lead sessions on cellular oxidative stress and cancers; genomics, genetics and epigenetics and how these related to animal health and longevity; functional foods and nutrigenomics; establishing and operating animal blood banks; and vaccine essentials and potential adverse events.
Local speakers include Megan Kearney (herbal medicine and the microbiome, the challenge of self-care, and epidemiological concepts in integrative medicine), Barbara Fougere (why use veterinary herbal medicine, and building resilience) and Charissa Smith (complementary therapies and canine cardiovascular disease). Find out how you can provide complementary therapies for your patients. Delegates may also wish to register for the resilience workshop taught by Rosie Overfield on the afternoon of Wednesday May 16.
Earn 6 additional VetEd points while you ask the experts about your most challenging cases at he “Chronic Illness: Conundrums and Case Studies” workshop on Friday May 18. Drs Barbara Fougere and Jean Dodds will lead this collegiate day of brain storming, and share some of their own challenging cases.
Catch up with colleagues at the casual IVA dinner at Vegeme on Wednesday May 16.
Join us at the rejuvenating IVA weekend away at Burleigh Heads on May 19 and 20, or just stay the day. Optional activities include but are not limited to beach walking, swimming, surfing, paddle boarding, snorkelling, stand-up paddle boarding, yoga, tai chi, massage and a tour of David Fleay’s wildlife sanctuary.
