Gayle Hallowell is Professor in Veterinary Internal Medicine and Critical Care at the University of Nottingham. She graduated from Cambridge University in 2002 before completing a large animal internship followed by a combined large animal internal medicine and critical care residency at the Royal Veterinary College in London. Her PhD investigated aortic valve prolapse in equine patients.
Gayle is also an American specialist in large animal internal medicine and large animal emergency and critical care. She is an Associate Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging.
Her research interests include large animal cardiology, gastroenterology, imaging, fluid therapy, blood gas analysis, analgesia and emergency and critical care. She spends around 60 per cent of her time in the clinic and focuses on clinically based research. The majority of her time is spent treating horses, but she also evaluates individual farm animals, alpacas and dogs.
