International delegates - member rate eligibility

International delegates who are members of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), British Veterinary Association (BVA), Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), New Zealand Veterinary Association (NZVA) or South African Veterinary Association (SAVA) can attend the AVA Annual Conference at AVA member rates.

All international delegates are required to supply their membership association and membership number at the time of registering.

New graduates

All new graduates must be members of the AVA and no more than 3 years out of University. New Graduates must supply their membership number to receive discount rates.

Practice managers and vet nurses

Practice managers and vet nurses who manage practices can join the Veterinary Business Group of the Australian Veterinary Association to receive a member discount to AVA CPD Conferences. Find out more or contact VBG on 02 9431 5010 or email vbg@ava.com.au.

Carer's pass - parents room - childminding

We are delighted to introduce a complimentary Carer’s Pass for delegates attending all AVA conferences and events.   This will give the Carer access to the conference, exhibition, and sessions and allows parents/delegates nursing children to be provided with assistance.   The pass does not include catering for carers.   To request a pass please contact Kandy Musgrave, National Events Manager - email:  eventsmanager@ava.com.au. There is no need to register online.  Your Carer’s Pass can be collected at the registration desk upon arrival.

Please note there are no arrangements for child care during the Conference. We suggest you check with your accommodation provider who may be able to assist you further with babysitting services during your stay.

Conditions of entry:  

  • All visitors must register and wear ID name badges, which must be visible at all times.
  • Once registered, you are able to enter the show as many times as you like over the duration of the event.
  • A person who is not an exhibitor and is observed conducting sales activities during the exhibition will be excluded from the event.

Practice registration - all delegates must be AVA members:

  • Practice registration badge (one per practice)
  • Attendance at scientific sessions (one person per day)
  • Admittance to industry exhibition (one person per day)
  • Satchel (including conference materials – one per practice)
  • Welcome reception and exhibition opening - Sunday (one per person)
  • Morning and afternoon tea, lunch (one person per day)
  • Happy hour – Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday only (one person per day)

The AVA will send practices an excel spreadsheet post-event where details of each delegate who attended each day should be completed and returned to veted@ava.com.au to claim Vet Ed points.

  • Online registration only
  • Vet Ed points will need to be claimed individually from the AVA website.
  • AVA member numbers must be supplied to receive the discounted member rate.

Accompanying guest:

Accompanying guests must be accompanied by the registered delegate. Scientific sessions are not included.

Congratulations

Cancellation of registration

Cancellations must be received in writing to the Conference Secretariat (E: eventsmanager@ava.com.au) by Friday 26 April 2019.  Cancellations received prior to 26 April 2019 will receive a full refund minus $150 administration fee. Cancellations after 27 April 2018 will not be refunded. Substitute delegates will be accepted.

International delegates - Letters of Invitation and Visas

Please note that our policy is to only issue a letter of invitation to an international delegate once registration and full payment has been received. A letter of invitation from the conference does not guarantee entry into Australia. Please email events@ava.com.au to request a letter of invitation after your registration and payment have been submitted and attaching your paid invoice. 

All international visitors to Australia (other than New Zealand citizens) are legally required to hold a valid visa. Please visit the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection: www.immi.gov.au/visitors

27 VetEd points

The AVA Annual Conference offers delegates 27 hours of continuing professional development over the full week.

To have your attendance at the conference recognised for VetEd points you must include your AVA membership number when registering for the conference for automatic awarding of the points to your VetEd statement.

Delegates can earn extra points by attending one of the post-conference workshops and field trips, or by completing trials at the National Veterinary Examination stand.

VetEd points are correct at the time of printing, however, points are subject to change without notice.

Points

Delegates may use Provet Plus points but must check they have sufficient points available prior to registering. You must have sufficient points to cover the full registration.  Part payment is not accepted.
 

                  

Delegate/Attendee steps to claiming Provet PLUS points:

  1. Complete AVA conference registration online and pay.
  2. You will receive a tax invoice/receipt sent to your nominated email address (check your junk mail if it has not arrived in your inbox).
  3. Attendee to email a copy of tax invoice/receipt and a copy of the completed Provet Plus form to marketing@provet.com.au
  4. Provet Marketing will process redemption from nominated Provet PLUS account (Please note: Provet will only be able to process redemption if the customer has enough points).
  5. Provet Accounts will reimburse the attendee by direct deposit to the nominated bank account.
